Tall Oak Retrievers

About Us

At Tall Oak Retrievers we offer very specialized attention to each animal brought in for training and boarding. It does not matter if they are here for training for field trials, hunt test/gun dog, or all-breed basic obedience, they are each given the same amount of time and attention daily.

Trey Lawrence, origanlly from Tennessee, has been training dogs for 15 years. He has trained for hunt test, field trials, and most any type of gun dog. His animals are full of energy, polished and stylish.

Our property is located bordering the West Kentucky Management area, just minutes from Paducah, KY.  The area is full of technical water and land mowed in a variety of ways. You would be hard-pressed to find any better training grounds in the country.

Dogs in training have the option of going with Trey to Minot, ND; Bemidji, MN or Michigan in the summer. Depending upon the weather he also makes a trip to Texas in the winter. This is to ensure each animal gets the most work they possibly can.

Trey started with Hunt Tests and had fanatastic success with titling numerous HRCH and MH dogs. His success has continued into the Field Trial game. He has had many dogs with multiple derby points, most of his young dogs are Qualified All Age by 30 months old; and he has several dogs with All Age Points. Last year he ran the Canadian circuit and had four qualified for the Canadian National.

Dana started training dogs as a hobby seven years ago and has enjoyed the  success and challenges it has brought.  Her love of animals started at a very early age and has continued to grow.  That love encouraged her decision to major in Animal Health Technology at Murray State.  After graduation Dana  was employed by a genetics labratory as well as a veterinary hospital.  She has always loved the outdoors and this prompted her to make a career change.  She has been training started dogs and obedience dogs for alomost three years now and still loves it like a hobby!
